is Leading to Atrophy or Amplification?

Is AI making us superhuman as it atrophies some of our most foundational skills?

I’ve been thinking about that a lot lately. Enough that I recently wrote a Fast Company article about it.

And honestly, part of it started with a slightly embarrassing realization about how I absolutely butcher the keyboard when prompting AI these days. Spelling, syntax… all the things I’ve been honing since I was five suddenly seem to matter a lot less now than they did then because I know the system will clean it up.

Which is incredibly efficient. And also… slightly horrifying. There's something valuable in the friction. The discipline of writing starts with the simplest aspects of communicating.

At the same time, the productivity gains are incredible. I see them in my teams and with my clients every day. But I also think we’re sleepwalking into a much bigger question: as AI removes more of the effort from work, what happens to some of that core capability that effort used to build? And how do we solve it?
