Cadillac LYRIQ: Defining the Digital Future of Luxury

When Cadillac set out to define its electric future, it wasn’t just launching a vehicle—it was introducing a new kind of luxury experience. With the industry facing massive change with electrification, it was a critical for the brand to redefine itself for the evolving marketplace and a new generation of consumers with a different set of expectations.

I led the creative direction, design strategy, and full execution of the in-vehicle OS concept for the 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ, beginning with a blank slate and culminating in a production-ready experience that helped redefine the brand. From the first sketch to final execution, I guided the team through the development of an experience that embodied Cadillac’s next-generation identity—intuitive, immersive, and emotionally resonant.

The Approach

We began with a greenfield mindset, abandoning legacy automotive UX conventions in favor of something more refined, expressive, and future-facing. I defined the initial vision for the OS and led the team through every phase of execution across the LYRIQ’s 33-inch curved display.

Every detail—every pixel, transition, and motion pattern—was intentionally crafted to elevate the luxury experience while remaining grounded in familiar interaction patterns. One key example was our strategic use of the Z-axis to create dimensionality and depth—subtly reinforcing hierarchy and enhancing visual clarity throughout the interface.

Rethinking the Process

We didn’t just create an award-winning experience—we also helped reshape how it came to life. I worked with GM to restructure internal workflows and design systems, introducing sprint-based methodologies and modern tools that enabled fast, cohesive, cross-functional collaboration at scale.

Defining the Standard, Winning the Market

The outcome was an experience that redefined expectations for luxury EVs—and helped Cadillac leap ahead of its competition:

  • 2024 German Car of the Year (Luxury)
  • 2023 Wards 10 Best Interior & UX
  • 2023 Luxury Green Car of the Year
  • 2024 Best-Selling Electric Luxury SUV in North America
  • 2023 MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Awards

Most importantly, LYRIQ has resonated deeply with consumers. The in-vehicle OS I led from concept through execution is now recognized as a benchmark in modern automotive UX—one that embodies Cadillac’s brand, reflects its future, and sets a new standard for what’s possible inside a vehicle.
